We've been seriously evaluating several application frameworks, and now came down to installing and playing with strataframe. However, we have a trouble activating the product, while running the Activate.exe, a runtime exception is generated. Could it be something related to regional options? The machine is XP SP2 with Intel processor. Note that this is not .net framework exception, and the first installation phase had gone smoothly. Also, some other strata related exceptions are being thrown in various sample applications. I've also attached one of those. While playing with the CRM sample application, after clicking customers, an error is generated Regards, Emre

The two are probably related since the Activation client uses StratFrame. It would appear that the StrataFrame assemblies are not being properly referenced which would more than likely indicate that the StrataFrame assemblies did not make it into the GAC (c:\windows\assembly). Make sure that the SF assemblies are in your GAC. The first error that you got, the activation side, is the same error that you get when .NET is not properly installed as well. The CRM error just indicates that it cannot access the SF assemblies. Check that to see if it resolves your issue. Finally, be sure that you have administrative permissions when you are installing otherwise you can have a number of installation issues.

Thanks for the quick reply..As I've said. The installation phase went smoothly. No errors or anything. I added the strongly typed assemblies in "\program files\microfour\strataframe\Assemblies" folder to the GAC. Still, the error is not resolved. I'm already local admin on my pc and can see the assemblies in GAC. Are there any other assemblies that need to be added to the GAC? Is there a seperate setup file just for these assemblies? We did the same installation on another machine here. He also encountered the same issues. Regards, Emre

Well, there is clearly something within your environment that is presenting an issue. For now, totally ignore the sample errors. If you cannot run the activation client then you have other issues that need to be resolved first. Are you running a 64-bit OS? What language is your OS? Any additional details like this that you can supply the better I would be able to help. Thanks.

Ok, as suspected, it was due to the regional settings. I'm located in Turkey. What I did, I changed the location and local settings to United States, and now I'm able to start the activation application. (BTW, this is an annoying thing, somewhere in the app start, you should be passing culture invariant parameters ) Now, when I enter the serial number that came with the email, an activation error occurs, throwing an null object reference exception. Attached is the screen shot: Regards, Emre

Emre,We do take into account the regional settings...you are not our only user in Turkey and we have developers all over the world, not just the USA. So though there may be an issue that you are fighting, and there are some things that we can do to improve this activation client, I don't think that the regional settings are what is getting in the way here. Just send a request for a manual activation and we will get you activated.

Ok. I understand and appreciate your feedback. But, as you see, the problem has been resolved only after changing the regional options to United states. I do not have an idea how the other Turkish clients managed the bypass this issue.. If they could respond here, with their experience, it would be great. Anyway, I've sent the manual activation email with required information to support@strataframe.net. Thanks, Emre

Well, this time the popup says activation is ok, but when I try to run the samples it says the product needs activation..(see attachments)I restarted the application, IDEs, machine and reactived a number of times, but somewhat the current license status doesn't change.. I guess, the only option left seems to reinstall the product with the US regional settings. I'll give it a try. regards, Emre

Well, Thank God. Things are fine now! After a complete reinstall with US reg.settings, activation was ok, and I was able to access the SF controls in toolbox and able to compile the samples and tutorials. so far so good...
