I had a problem with my XP Laptop and purchased a new Laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate. I have logged in to my account and downloaded StrataFrame 1.6.5 but not yet executed it. My question is what should I do to install it on my new machine and transfer the activation to the new machine?

One other question, when I install Strataframe on my new computer, will I need to migrate anything from the StrataFrame database on the old computer? Not really sure what this is used for that relates to my work.

My understanding about the licenses is that is tied to the NIC MAC address on a machine. Therefore, you'll need to transfer the license to the new machine (assuming the old one doesn't work any more). To do this you'll need to deactivate the license on the old machine first:

- If you can still use the old machine, you can open the license activation client and deactivate that machine.

- If the machine is dead, log into your account area on the SF site and click on the Deactivate License area, select the machine that is broke and deactiave it.

Then you just install SF on the new machine and at the end it will activate for you. It will simply prompt you for your user/password that you use to access your account. Done. I just had to do this myself not a week ago :/

As to the SF database, you will definitely want to move that db. It contains all the meta data used to build BOs, security and localization. So, yes, move that one over or back it up and restore it. Otherwise you'll have to recreate all your BOs in BO Mapper again so they can easily be rebuilt, redo localiation, redo security (permissions especially) in the security dialog.
