Error adding DevExpress forms to project

Hi guys,

I'm getting an error from VS2005 when I try to add a SF DevEx Standard Form or a SF DevEx Maintenance Form to a new project. The error can be seen in the attached png file.

I am using StrataFrame v1.4.1 Pre-release (DevEx 6.1.5), and I have DevExpress v6.1.5. At a guess, this StrataFrame pre-release still has some references to DevExpress 6.1.4 buried in it somewhere.

A quick work around to get a SF DevEx Standard Form to work is to add a normal DevExpress form first. This doesn't help with the SF DevEx Maintenance Form though.

Any idea when this pre-release will become a final release?

Regards,

Bruce

This issue has already been resolved.  The problem is that the template has a version reference to 6.1.4 within it.  We just have not posted a new update with the template changes in it.  We can post the template changes on the forum later and explain how to manually install them if you would like.  Smile

Hi Trent,

Yes, could you please post the template changes along with the install instructions.

What other things will you be doing to this pre-release before you finalise it?

Thanks,

Bruce

Well, we have done so much that it will actually be released as version 1.5.  We will not relesae the official version until the role based security is made available for purchase, which will be soon.  I could actually write a very long article explaining all of the changes.  We will have a help document that shows many of the new changes and updates when the version is released.

Installing the Templates

  1. Extract the CSharp package to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\CSharp
  2. Extract the Visual Basic package to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ItemTemplates\VisualBasic
  3. Close all instances of Visual Studio
  4. Execute the following from a command line: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe /setup
  5. Go back into Visual Studio and the template changes should be up to date.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

Thanks Trent, that fixed the problem.

I'm very interested in what you guys are going to come up with for security. Hope it's not too far away.BigGrin

Thanks again,

Glad to help.  Security will be released very soon.  It is an extremely nice add-on!  I will keep you posted.

What will the security module cost?
By Trent L. Taylor - 8/9/2006

$295 per developer.  It includes all design-time and run-time components and interfaces with the DDT to create the structures required by the module.  It even includes documentation that you can redistributed to your end-users on how to use the end-user dialogs and security setup forms.
