Grid or Lisbox Opacity

I have a form with pictures on it, and I also have a need for a grid or listbox, where I show 6 coulums, e.g. Stock Code, Description, Pack Size,Price,Dept  and Order Qty. The grid/listbox would typically have 6-10 rows representing each Stock Code, and there will be a picture on the form for each of the stock codes. The Order qty is the only column that will be data entered. The grid/List box will sit 'on top' of the pictures, positioned around the centre of the form,and taking up a about 1/4 of the screen size. Visually I want to centre the Grid/Listbox, rather than having it away in a corner.

Is there an Opacity property for the Grid/Listbox. I want to be able to see the pictures clearly behind the Grid, but also enter the Order qty onto the grid column. I dont want to have to Hide and then show the grid/Listbox if I can avoid it

I've been trying to think of a way to do this without re-writing the world, and so far I'm coming up blank. The problem here is that none of these controls support transparency at a base level, so re-writing them to add that kind of functionality is no small thing. The only thing I could come up with from a usability perspective would be to put the ListView/Grid in a StrataCollapsableContainer to make moving it out of the way simpler. That way they can toggle back and forth between seeing the grid and seeing the image.

I'm also assuming we aren't talking about small images you could include in the list items themselves, correct?

These images need to go behind the Grid as they would be too small as a separate column.

Fot time being I'll either Hide / unhide them , or else reserve a part of the screen for the grid.

Perhaps this is the sort of thing that could be done in WPF so I guess I'll need to wait a while.
