This product is growing and so as the user base. You multiply the features times new users, you can see how many questions will be rolling off NG. Very likely, most of the users won't go through piles of posts to see if their question was already covered. The more features to learn and the more new users, soon it will slow down support team.

I propose to SF to develop a comprehensive KB that is hierarchically organized based on categories and each answer is followed up by samples in C# and VB. The KB should also have some form of search and sorting.

a) This can be a WinForm program part of SF toolkit (in VS) that users can click a button and the contents can be downloaded from your main server and the user can use it offline.

b) It can be developed as a WebForm that will be available to anyone surfing the web site.

It would be great for others to offer their ideas and see what SF team have to say!

Thanks!

This would be great. I'm wondering if there might be an easier solution, like just tagging topics. I.e. a topic titled "How do I fill a combobox" might be tagged as a combobox topic. Then if during the post, a bug is discussed, another tag is added. Then I thought, wonder if the forum already supports this? So I checked (link at bottom of page for InstantForum) and it doesn't. But InstantASP does have a knowledge base product...

I had forgotten all about that. I wonder if their KB can be tied to their forum system, so they don't have to enter the data twice?

Nope.  You have to enter everything twice.  The forum has a lot of search features which can help you find previous topics....I use it all of the time Smile

To bad about the forum/KB not being tied together.
