I was wondering if you guys have updated to VS SP1 yet, and what were if any ramifications?

Thanks,

Robin Giltner

Robin,

There is a previous posting regarding VS SP1 that you might find helpful. I’m currently using it on a Windows XP development system and have had no issues.

Things like the VB Compiler crashing and stuff like that have been fixed in SP1... thank heavens.  The only thing I can think of that's been weird is within the WinForms designer: when you select more than one object, you sometimes have to wait 10-15s for the arrangement toolbar to show up so that you can make the controls the same size or align them left or whatnot.  I'm not positive that it's SP1, but I noticed it sometime after I installed VS 2005 SP1 and Steve's computer does the same thing (and he also has SP1, but he's on Vista without the VS 2005 Vista Refresh, so whatever on that...).  It's not a deal breaker, but when you're designing a form, it can sometimes make you a little perturbed.

I upgraded and have had no problems at all with Stratafrrame or Infragistics or any other toolsets that I use. I am running XP Media Center with 4 Gig RAM.

Good to know, Robert.  SP1 definitely makes VS 2005 much more stable, so like you, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I also recommend SP1, have been on it about a month with good results. Seems more stable indeed.
