I was trying to set the SelectedValue property to -1 <STRONG>INSTEAD</STRONG> of setting the SelectedIndex property to 0! (0 because I am using the DevExpress wrapped ComboBoxEdit) I <STRONG>HATE</STRONG> it when I make those <STRONG>STUPID</STRONG> mistakes.
