I was told that strataframe could be used with Visual Studio Express, however when I try to install it I get the following message: Visual Studio 2005 must be installed prior to installing Strataframe.



Is there anyway to get it to install with Visual Studio Express?

Could you check your registry for me? I'm wondering if a certain key exists. During the install, we check:



HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0



to make sure it exists. If it doesn't exist, then we cancel the setup because Visual Studio is not installed. It is most likely that the registry key for Visual Studio Express is different than the one, so the StrataFrame Setup does not believe that Visual Studio is installed.



Let me know so I can modify the setup to support the necessary changes.

The folder exists but just contains other folders on the default key is present and no value is set. However I notice now that I have the following folder:



HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VBExpress\8.0



which contains a number of keys like ApplicationID, CLR Version....

We'll get the install modified so that it views VBExpress as a valid Visual Studio install.

And don't worry about your trial expiring, Bob Davis can extend your trial period to the necessary number of days once you get it installed.

Yes, sir, did a google search and gound the registry key for that one as well.

I just wanted to know if the installation error has been fixed and whether I can downloaded a new version to try with VB Express?

OK, Simon, I've got the issue resolved, and I'm rebuilding the install right now, so after we test it, it should be posted today.  I'll make sure either Bob, Trent, or I extends your trial period so you will have plenty of time to review the product with CSExpress installed.
