Hi

I'm new to StrataFrame and a little bit lost, any help would be highly appreciated.

I installed SF on my computer (using my user account with admin privileges), then I opened Visual Studio and I tried to activate the license, I followed the activation steps and I got this error:

            Activation Error

Unauthorized access exception, access to the path:

            c:\program files\microfour\strataframe\license is denied

Then I changed to the administrator account, followed the same steps and everything worked out just fine and the license is finally activated, but when I switched to my user account I have problems using the Business Object Mapper, the application theme editor, etc. (Errors involving the windows registry),  and I can't deactivate the license from this account either.

Supposedly I've got administrator privileges in my user account, but maybe something's missing, I'm using Windows Vista, I downloaded and installed SF version 1.6.6 and I'm also working with Visual Studio 2008.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Sam,

When using Vista, you have to run VS as an Administrator, it does not matter if you login with the Admin account, still you need to run as Admin in order to have the proper rights.

Right click the VS shortcut and select Run as Administrator and you will be fine.  Also you can modify the VS shortcut and in the Compatibility page, check the option "Run this program as an administrator" to make it permanent.

Same rule applies when installing a program you should always use the right click ->Run as administrator option to be safe.
