Hello,

I just set up an account to ty out the framework. I was able to download the installation fine but the trial license file will not download. I'm guessing it's a DLL file that's trying to register itself when it downloads because I get a .NET 2.0 required error message. I'm using IE7 7.0.5700.6 on Windows XP Pro SP2 to download the file. I don't want to install .NET 2.0 because I'm downloading from my host environment. I have a Virtual PC environment set up for development. Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

You should be able to right-click the file and choose "Save As" and save it somewhere where the SF install can see it (a shared hard-drive or a USB stick).  It shouldn't try to install itself when you download it, but it is a DLL (.NET 2.0 assembly).

Hiya,

Thanks for the quick response. I should have mentioned that "Save As..." is not an option from the right mouse menu when I right click on the file. I figured it was something you had disabled. Very odd.

Thanks,

Jesse

Hrm... I think it might be a span tag, rather than a link.  When you click on the link, does it give you the option to save or open, or does it immediately try to open it?

It immediately tries to open it and gives me the .NET 2.0 not installed error message.

Can you try downloading it through your virtual PC session rather than through your host session, because the virtual session is the one that will need it anyways...

I was able to download the file using the latest version of Firefox. I'm not sure why IE 7 tried to install it without giving me the option to save it to disk.

I'm glad you got it downloaded... and I'm not sure why IE7 was doing that either.
