This visualizer for datasets is created by an MVP Miha Markic in Slovenia. It is distributed freely ( see www.rthand.com - I can't seem to connect at the moment )
The visualizer seems to be compiled with DevExpress controls into dlls but devExpress is not part of the system requirements he says you need to run it and I do not have DevExpress on my system.
He says just unzip all these files into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\Packages\Debugger\Visualizers and the RighthandVisualizer will be an additional choice when one pickes the Visualizer in the watch window etc while debugging. Says you shouldn't even need to restart VS in order to see the new visualizer option. ( see the attached jpg for what the files in the folder look like )
I get no errors, but only see the choice of the standard VS data visualizer. Obviously I'm missing something.
This looks like a very cool enhancement ( web page shows it in action ) so if someone could give it a try and see what boneheaded thing I'm missing to get it working we all may benefit.
( I've been trying to upload the zip but for some reason forum times out and the www.rthand.com website seems to be down right now so for right now I guess I'll just show what my folder looks like - probably makes more sense to you than to me - and now the question is more about the principle of adding a visualizer and do I need to register or something any of these components - keep in mind I'm a .NET idiot )
TIA
Charles
