is there a way to tell SF at runtime globally not to show any built in MessageForm, or to tell SF to show them 'silent', without any sound?

At the moment, there is not a way to turn off the MessageForms or the sounds globally.  Although I will mark it down for an enhancement request and bring it up with the guys.  No promises, but it might be worth thinking about.

I like the sounds and find the messages helpful, most of the time. But I thought, some of my customers could find them annoying, at the long run, and it would be nice to give them a choice.

Agreed, but currently, we don't have that option.  But we'll mark it down as a possible enhancement request and discuss adding it in.
