As I mentioned in an enhancement request (see http://forum.strataframe.net/FindPost13888.aspx), my install was taking a looooooooooooooong time. Well, I'm guessing it timed out. I get an error in the deployment window saying there was an error while deploying data.

Now the issue is that there is no graceful way to get out of the deployment form. There is no close/exit/quit/stop/halt/alto button to close the form (the db deployment form). I have to ctl-alt-del to use the task list to close it. It would be nice if I could close the setup in a more controlled manner.

Thanks!

Oh...its worse...task manager doesn't work, the sf install isn't listed in the list of apps. I tried alt-f4, and got an unhandled exception. I was able to find the sf setup programs, but the deployment window was elusive. I had to reboot.

OK...if it is timing out, then you more than likely have a legitimate connection issue to the database.  The only point that a timeout is possible is when attempting to open the connection to the server.  Once connected, you should not run into the time out issue.

As for the task manager, it will be listed under an MSIExec instance more than likely.

I'm suggesting that you provide some way to close the deployment status form when an error occurs, rather than requiring that the user use task manager to shut down processes. Obviously likely not a huge issue, as I'm sure this is infrequent. Still, it'd be nice to have a user friendly way to close the form when an error occurs. Just one more thing to add to you list!

Thanks!

I imagine we can add something to get out
