I would like to request for enhancement of allowing user to choose which field to be shown in listview (just like what fields to used for search).

Technically you could do this yourself by programmatically changing the BrowseResultsLayout collection.  You have complete programmatic access to this, so you don't actually have to wait, you could do this as we speak.  It would just have to be done in code.
