I finally got the Database Deployment Toolkit installed and working on a client machine as part of my normal install.
Cool, but as you run through the Wizard one of the choices is Data Only. How does the data get moved or what do you need to do so that some of the tables, like look ups, will get the data put in the Toolkit Pkg?
I seem to be real dense because I can not seem to find anything that talks about this.
TIA.

I believe I found part of my solution. I think that the Data is referencing Security Tables and Messages only? Is that correct?

If so is there away to get the data from other tables to be transferred? And if so, how? Maybe you can point me towards a document or sample. TIA.

Hi.

Have a look at the Help under "Database Deployment Toolkit" -> "Deployment Data Packages".

Thank you. I don't know how I missed that. I looked at the topic and just thought it was going to deal with the table structures again.

I appreciate you pointing me in the correct direction.....

Now having read that documentation I have a couple of questions. If tables are related you choose the parent and the data deployment package will install the children because of the relationships, is that correct?

Also, if tables are not related but you still want the data then do you create a Deployment Data Node for each table?

Again thank you so much.

Hi Buffie.

You're most welcome.

You are correct, the children tables should be added to the package when you create it for the parent. Once you are into the "Deployment Data Package" Dialog, under the "Data" Tab, have a look at the "Children Levels" Combobox. Leave it "Infinite" to fetch all children records into the package.

Let us know if you need any further help.

Cheers.
