Has anyone else messed around with Orcas and especially LINQ?

LINQ makes me think that the recently "available" VFP team (one guy?) went into the .NET dev team, punched someone in the head and said "OK boys THIS is how you work with data in code".

I love it the more I use it. It is easy to try as they provided a VHD file for use with Virtual PC 2007 with everything ready to go.

For the web guys here (and those who dabble in both like myself) it also looks like they stole just about everything that was good about Dreamweaver and put it into the ASP.NET 3.5 development experience. I have always hated the ASP.NET VS editor. In fact you can get most of this now as a free download "Microsoft Expression Web" I have started using this side by side with VS2005, doing all my "web stuff" in it and switching to VS only for code behind.

Anyhow, just blathering because I'm excited about Orcas (yes, I am a geek and I know it) and thought someone here might have some interest.

Well Keith, it's about 2:0x AM and I'm installing ORCAS on my mule machine. I've been looking into LINQ, it's ORM and how MS has linked LINQ and the ORM together, makes it very exciting.

As you said, the funny thing is that, now the data and coding is coming back together, the way I did it 20 years ago (not in VFP).

I think the way you write code in LINQ feels so natural and you don't have to deal with SQL and ADO anymore.

I think there is a GREAT opportunity for SF to tailor their ES to work with this technology. Right now, there is nothing out there that will allow a 3-tier system with LINQ. I think ES for LINQ will make a killer product. Not to mention the RBS and DDT. These three products will be a great complement to LINQ.

I am very curious as well to see how SF will integrate with LINQ and Orcas. We have always been a shop that lets others be cutting edge and been somewhat of a late adopter but with Orcas we have already started using it for some development on future projects. I think it is that good.

Keith;

put it into the ASP.NET 3.5 development experience. I
Is ASP.Net version in Orcas considered to be ASP.Net 3.5 or are they still calling it 2.0?

After installation (which finished by 4:00AM), I looked at the toolbox in ASP.Net and besides AJAX stuff, I didn't see anything new.

Have you looked at this stuff yet?

Orcas is 3.5

The Vista/FX version that has been release is 3.0 (WCF/WPF etc)
