I recently installed the 1.6.5 beta to get some functionality I needed for the browsedialog. Now I'm trying to maintain a form that has a PanelManager on it. The PanelManger Task menu pops up when I click on the control's 'common task' icon in the upper right corner of the control but if I choose any of the tasks VS pops up an error messagebox with the following text: Error invoking 'xxxx...'. Details: Could not find method 'Handlexxxx'. where xxx is the command (e.g. Go To Page, Next Page, First Page, etc.) None of the task items work. I've rebuilt the solution. Removed and readded the Strataframe references but nothing seems to work. The DLLs in C:\program files\common files\microfour\strataframe are all dated 1/27/08 with an assembly version of 1.6.0.0 and a file version of 1.6.5.0. I can no longer maintain my forms that have a PanelManager on them. Help!!!

Look in your GAC...it appears that the Extensibility and Addins did not get updated. Manualy delete the Extensibility and Addins assemblies from the GAC and then either reinstall or add them back from the c:\program files\common files\MicroFour\StrataFrame folder. Once you do this, get out of VS and then come back in.

I removed the extensibility and addins from the GAC and reinstalled (repair) strataframe. When I restarted VS I was prompted to remove the old toolbox items and add the new ones which I did. It didn't fix the problem. I checked the GAC (c:\windows\assembly) and the DLLs in C:\program files\common files\microfour\strataframe and they all have an assembly version of 1.6.0.0, a file version of 1.6.5.0 and a product version of 1.6.5.0 (looks correct to me). Thinking maybe the problem was in existing project, I created a new SF project and added panelmanager control to the form. Same problem/error. I then removed all the SF references in the project and readded them. The problem still exists. Any other ideas? I also noticed when an SF project is created, the SF references are mapped to the GAC. If I remove a reference and readd it through the .Net tab on the Add Reference dialog, it gets mapped to the DLL in C:\program files\common files\microfour\strataframe not the GAC. How can I change the reference to reference what's in the GAC? Thanks!!

Frank, Did you download the update I posted last night (http://forum.strataframe.net/FindPost14187.aspx)? You might load this instead to see if it resolves the issue. How can I change the reference to reference what's in the GAC? LOL ...I am not laughing at you....but more at the situation. Welcome to reference hell . If you choose from teh .NET reference tab, we map to the c:\program files\common files\microfour\strataframe folder...however, .NET always looks to the GAC first, so under certain conditions, you may have one go to the GAC whil another pulls from the common files location. But...at any rate here, the problem is not in these assemblies...it is coming from the Extensibility assembly. The type editors are not pulling from the correct location. Also, by loading this new install, I know that you will have the latest Extensibility assemblies. So that is where I would start.

Frank, I am 99.99% confident that you have another Extensibility assembly on your computer from which the AppDomain is pulling. Once you uninstalled StrataFrame...did you have a MicroFour StrataFrame Extensibility.dll file in the GAC, C:\Program Files\Common Files\MicroFour\StrataFrame folder, or in any of your local folders. There has to be one out there somewhere. The reason I am farily confident that this is the issue is because when I was making these changes, I had the same problem. I had the wrong Extensibility assembly in my GAC which caused the exact issue. So once I got out of VS and made sure that my Extensibility was up to date...it started working again.

I have 2 copies of MicroFour Strataframe Extensibilty.dll on my machine. One in C:\Program Files\Common Files\MicroFour\Strataframe and the other in C:\Program Files\MicroFour\Assemblies. They both have the correct version (1.6.0.0), file version (1.6.5.0) and product version (1.6.5.0). And of course an entry in the GAC. I used the Control Panel to uninstall Stataframe. After the uninstall was complete, all DLLs in C:\Program Files\Common Files\MicroFour\Strataframe and C:\Program Files\MicroFour\Assemblies were gone as were all MicroFour entries in the GAC. I reinstalled the latest 1.6.5 beta. MicroFour Strataframe Extensibilty.dll was again installed in the 2 folders mentioned above and the GAC. The DLLs had the same version, file version and product version as before and have a date/time stamp of 2/7/08 6:19PM. I re-opened VS2005. I updated the Toolbox then opened my project. I still have the same problem --- arrrgh!!! Any other ideas?? I even cleared out my recycle bin.

I'm having the same problems. I searched my entire computer and found two copies plus the on in the GAC. I uninstalled. No copies on the machine. I reinstalled 1.6.5 beta (the latest), problem continued. Repeat. No joy. Any ideas would be appreciated. It gonna be hard if I have to use just the designer file to edit my panels.

It was me ...the reason I could not reproduce this is because it was a build server issue related to obfuscation. I have fixed this problem and you can get the latest build from here: http://forum.strataframe.net/FindPost14233.aspx . Sorry
