Hey Larry,

You are correct it your latter post.  This CAL is the same as SQL Server, which makes sense since the ES server when using a SQL or other database CAL must respect those terms as well, even though there is really only one machine talking to the SQL Server database.  You need one CAL for each user that will be talking to the ES server in total.

PS,

Just reading the MS SQL definition of a "User CAL" and it appears that they do not mean "concurrent" but "total" users.

Q.Do you offer concurrent CALs?
A.No. SQL Server 2005 is only available by means of a server plus device CAL, server plus user CAL, or a processor license.

Hi,

I see you price ES as follows:

Enterprise Server - 25 CALs (per hostname / per server / per year)1+$995.00
Enterprise Server - 100 CALs (per hostname / per server / per year)1+$2,495.00
Enterprise Server - Unlimited (per hostname / per server / per year)1+$4,995.00

Just confirming a "CAL" is a "Client Access License" on a per-user concurrent basis (not per-device and not total user count).

So with the smallest package, MyApp could have 100 total users, but only a maximum of 25 could be logged in at any time from any machine.

Thanks,

Larry
