Does anybody know if its possible to have SQL SErver 2005/8 and Vis Studio 2005/8 to co-exist on the same machine (Devlopment machine)

I have a few old apps using Sql 2005/Vis Studio 2005 and dont want to upgrade them out there in the field yet. Ideally i'd like to have all 4 on my development machine. Tried recompiling an app (using Sql Server CE) (not SF) but got some errors.

Yes, this is possible.

I first deployed to VM's to get confortable, but eventually did a 2008 to our development server that also houses a 2005 Standard, and a SQL Express for good measure. Fine for development in my opinion.

Yes, you can do it. It can be a headache getting SQL Server 2005 / 2008 to co-exist in some instances...but it is generally not an issue and is straight forward. But it is most definitely possible.
