I've installed the trail version. When I start Visual Studio, it says that it sees a new version and asks if I want to rebuild the Toolbox Items. If I say yes, it comes back that the "Product Not Activated!". If I try to activate the license, it reports the license as activated, and will de-activate it if I continue.

From the SF menu item, if I check the License Information, it reports it as being active. However, if I select Create SF Toolbox Tab, I get the same "Product Not Activated!" message and the rest continues as stated above. Am I missing something???

Thanks!

Thought I would just post out here to give other readers an update. We have been talking via other media. We have tried a number of things including turning off real-time virus protection. There is something definitely environmental here, but Deen was going to try and load this on another machine and see if the same results persisted.

I wasn't able to get it installed on a different machine, but I will tell you what I was able to accomplish.

After spinning my wheels for a while longer without success, I uninstalled the SF. I have Kaspersky shut down (doesn't run at startup) and the NDIS driver disabled. I have all adapters disabled except the LAN adapter.

I reinstalled the software. During the license activation, it only saw the single network adapter and activated successfully. During the startup of Visual Studio, I opted to refresh the Toolbox Items and got the error again. Tried the Business Object Mapper and got the same error. At this point I don't know where to go. The environment has no anti-virus, and only one visible network adapter.

Any ideas?

Deen

PS - The machine that was available only has the Express Edition of Visual Studio. A new computer has been ordered, but will not arrive for about another week. I would like to move forward with this process before then.

Hi Deen.

The Express version might be the issue. Follow these links just to get an idea.

StrataFrame does require a full version of Visual Studio and doesn't support the Express editions.  This is a very simple process for some reason being very difficult on your machine.  This licensing is installed on tens of thousands of machines and I don't recall one being this finicky.

What other tools, utilities, SpyWare, etc. are loaded on your machine?  Also, do you have bridging setup on any of your NICS?  Also, is this a virtual machine environment?  There has to be something simple here.  Also, what MicroFour XXXX assemblies are in your GAC?

The other machine that I was going to load it on has the express edition. The machine I am having problems with has the professional edition.

The MicroFour XXXX assemblies:

MicroFour License Base, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Base, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Business, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame DBEngine, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Enterprise, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Enterprise Client, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Infragistics Wrapper, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Inherited UI, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame Security, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame UI, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

MicroFour StrataFrame UI Expanded, Version=1.7.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=99fe9917f71608a7, processorArchitecture=MSIL

Network Configuration:

No bridges. All adapters not in use are disabled.

Other tools, utilities, SpyWare:

I have DevExpress, ELDOS SBSFTP, FoxIt Reader SDK, PDF XChange PDF Viewer SDK.

I know once we find a solution to this we will be slapping our forehead in disbelief over the cause. I have every confidence that your product does work or you wouldn't have the user base that do. So let's keep plugging away at it and hopefully we can solve the problem. I'd rather not rebuild the machine if I can avoid it, but that option is on the table as well if we can't get this working by the weekend. If you would like to remote in to my system to take a look, I'm open to that as well. Just let me know how you want to proceed.

Also, I hope the GAC information is what you wanted. Let me know if there is more information that I can get for you.

Thanks!

Yeah, this is exactly what I wanted. I am going to write a quick diagnostic app and post it so we can see the contents of your assembly.

OK, I have started a diagnostics tool that may help work through this. I will refine it later to include direct email support to us, but for now, just do the following:
  1. Extract the SFDiagnostics.exe assembly and run it
  2. Take a screen shot of the results produced
  3. DO NOT POST the screen shot on the forum as it includes your serial number information and other details that should not be made public.
  4. Instead, click the "PM" (Private Message) button on my name and send the screen shot to me via a private message.
  5. I will then see if I have enough detail to diagnose your problem, if not, I will add some other tests.

Also, what version of Visual Studio are you running and do you have any service packs?

OK, the rules are the same as before, but I have added several things.  There is a Verify link next to the Framework section that performs the exact same test as when inside of Visual Studio.  If this validates, we know there is something wacky in your Visual Studio environment that is outside of our control.

Second, you can see the MAC address as well as the Network Adapters tab that should also show the NIC on which your license is activated (there will be a little certificate icon next to the network adapter).

So here is the additional information that I need.

  1. Click the Verify link to see if you get the dialog shown from within Visual Studio or a green check message.
  2. Take a screenshot of your network adapters and send it via PM.
  3. Go ahead and take a screenshot of the license details as well.

We will discuss options after these results.  Thanks.

Hey Trent,

Well, got the machine rebuilt and VOILA!!! Everything is wonderful! The install went perfect and flawless. I guess that Express Edition that I forgot to uninstall was really mucking things up.
