I have been asked to write a one screen app to interface two systems. Nothing complex. Basically a master/detail form. I'm looking into program it with StrataFrame however It seems to me that using the framework could be an overkill. Since this is my first app. to be deployed I would like to hear your comments. What do you guys think...

Well, the framework is never really overkill... I used it for my sister's website which only has 3 pages, but they all have a rotating quote at the top.  It's not going to really add any overhead, but it will save lots of time, because even with just 3 tables, that's 3 tables where you have to hand-code the data access.

Plus, you can use it as a practice app to try out everything you learned during the training course

I would use SF. I have done a simple site and a simple winforms app with raw ADO.net. No comparison IMHO.
