The Partial Build returns an error "Interface Not Registered."

My PC was running Strataframe until critical issues yesterday forced us to re-format and re-install Windows XP and VS 2005.  This morning the registry exibited errors and was repaired.  I de-installed Strataframe and re-installed it.  There was some confusion over the activation of Strataframe when my activation took a couple of hours to appear on the website.  That has been resolved, but I don't think it contributes the current problem.  When the partial build returns this error, I think it means the Registry.  Does anyone have any information on this error?

Can you post a screen shot of the error?

Trent just sent me the screenshot that you sent to Bob earlier.  I googled the error and found this:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=53694&SiteID=1

It says that MSXML6 might need to be re-registered.  Try running these at the command prompt:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml6.dll

Thanks for the prompt response!  I registered both those DLLS and the Strataframe partial build is still failing  with "Interface not Registered".  (I made certain to reboot).

I have attached a screen shot of the actual error for your reference.

Try running these as well:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VB\Bin\msvbprj.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC#\VCSPackages\csproj.dll"
regasm "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\VSLangProj.dll"
regasm "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\VSLangProj2.dll"
regasm "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\VSLangProj80.dll"
regasm "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\EnvDTE.dll"
regasm "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies\EnvDTE80.dll"

You'll need to open a Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt because the regasm is located within the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 directory, which is not normally in the %path% environment variable.

Sorry, the "Partial Build" on the BOM is still not working.

Here is another potential clue, though,... my Strataframe documentation doesn't work anymore either.  The display says the most likely cause is that "Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have."  (See the attached screen shot).

Again, thanks for the time and attention!

I beleive the error within the documentation is unrelated.  If you are running the CHM file from a network drive then is your issue here.  You will have to provide full trusts on the network for a CHM to execute properly.  If you are running the CHM locally, then you have a service pack loaded for XP that prevents CHM internal pages from being viewed by default.  In this case, right click the CHM file from the solution explorer, go to properties.  You will see a button at the bottom right that says something like "Unblock" or "Allow Access"

I'm not exactly sure why you're still getting that error.  The error is a COM error that indicates that a COM DLL is not registered, so a type we are using for VS automation is not available.  Attached is a screenshot of all of the references used by the BOMapper, so if you re-register all of them, and it still gives you the error, then I think your VS install is broken.

Partial Build:  I have checked all the COM assemblies and they are all registered and present.  On a lark, I de-installed Strataframe and prowled about the computer cleaning up loose artifacts such as the Strataframe databases, file folders, and registry entries.  Then I re-installed.  The Parital Build still says the Interface is not Registered.

Activation:  At this point, I don't appear on the Strataframe Web site activation list.  This has happened after a strataframe installation as well.  Can you check on the status of the activation?

Help Files:  (CHM) The help files are on my local C drive without any strange characters in the path yet I cannot display them.  Because it is local the "Unblock" option is not available on the file.  Interestingly, I can link to the CHM file on the LAN for a prior version of Strataframe and display those help files perfectly.

This is quite a variety of issues... Any ideas?

Rose,

You are having issues all other the place that are more related to VS2005 and CHM than anything else.  Do you have Administrative rights on your local machine?  Without getting my hands on your computer it is hard to diagnosis all of your problems.  But there is clearly something not right with your VS2005 installation and possibly your OS install as well.
