Andy, SSPI stands for Security Support Provider Interface which indicates that the way in which you are authenticating or in which your server is setup for authentication is failing. There is actually not a lot of "magic" that goes on when the connection string is created for connecting to your server. In fact, you could create a simple .NET program and create a SQlConnection class object, manually provide the connection string, and call the .Open to determine where your problem is. One thing to verify as well is to check to see if your named instance is wrong...many times people leave out the SQLEXPRESS on the back of the server name. localhost\SQLEXPRESS To learn more about SSPI, you can look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811889

Hi all, I have downloaded the trial version and accepted the defaults for all prompts. Through SQL Enterpise manager I can view the populated tables in the StrataFrameSample database on the local server.
When trying to run the Sample CRM application I get the following error message. SqlException Cannot generate SSPI context. Source : .Net SqlClient Data Provider Stack Trace: at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.SSPIError(String error, String procedure) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.SNISSPIData(Byte[] receivedBuff, UInt32 receivedLength, Byte[] sendBuff, UInt32& sendLength) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.TdsLogin(SqlLogin rec) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.Login(Int64 timerExpire, String newPassword) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.AttemptOneLogin(ServerInfo serverInfo, String newPassword, Boolean ignoreSniOpenTimeout, Int64 timerExpire, SqlConnection owningObject) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.LoginNoFailover(String host, String newPassword, Boolean redirectedUserInstance, SqlConnection owningObject, SqlConnectionString connectionOptions, Int64 timerStart) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds.OpenLoginEnlist(SqlConnection owningObject, SqlConnectionString connectionOptions, String newPassword, Boolean redirectedUserInstance) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnectionTds..ctor(DbConnectionPoolIdentity identity, SqlConnectionString connectionOptions, Object providerInfo, String newPassword, SqlConnection owningObject, Boolean redirectedUserInstance) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnectionFactory.CreateConnection(DbConnectionOptions options, Object poolGroupProviderInfo, DbConnectionPool pool, DbConnection owningConnection) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.CreatePooledConnection(DbConnection owningConnection, DbConnectionPool pool, DbConnectionOptions options) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.CreateObject(DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.UserCreateRequest(DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.GetConnection(DbConnection owningConnection) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionClosed.OpenConnection(DbConnection outerConnection, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.Open() at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.FillInternal(DataSet dataset, DataTable[] datatables, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, String srcTable, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataTable[] dataTables, Int32 startRecord, Int32 maxRecords, IDbCommand command, CommandBehavior behavior) at System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter.Fill(DataTable dataTable) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.Data.DbDataSourceItem.GetDataTable(DbCommand Command, OnChangeEventHandler CallBack) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.Data.SqlDataSourceItem.GetDataTable(DbCommand Command, OnChangeEventHandler CallBack) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.Data.DbDataSourceItem.GetDataTable(QueryInformation QueryInfo, OnChangeEventHandler CallBack) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.Data.DataLayer.GetDataTable(QueryInformation QueryInfo, Boolean RegisterNotification) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.Business.BusinessLayer.FillDataTable(QueryInformation QueryInfo) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.UI.Windows.Forms.BrowseDialogwindow.Search(WhereStatementCollection WhereStatements) at MicroFour.StrataFrame.UI.Windows.Forms.BrowseDialogwindow.ExecuteSearch() at MicroFour.StrataFrame.UI.Windows.Forms.BrowseDialogwindow.tsiSearch_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.RaiseEvent(Object key, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripButton.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandleMouseUp(MouseEventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEventInteractive(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEvent(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mea) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativewindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativewindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Nativewindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
